Covid-19 will possibly be the defining event for this current generation in terms of psychological and emotional well-being because of the huge changes that are being made to the way we live our lives. The most helpful way we can combat this change is to change the way we think, speak and act because that will determine the quality of our mental state. Awareness Meditation when combined with a philosophically ethical lifestyle based on doing the least amount of physical, emotional or psychological harm to ourselves, others and the world around us, has a proven track record going back over 2,500 years.
The classes that we offer at our centre and on-line are fully supported within the scientific method of inquiry and is recommended by health professionals as a helpful and appropriate way to assist the recovery from depression, stress and anxiety disorders. Attending a live class and sharing the experience with others in a safe and friendly environment, where our duty of care to you is primary, is the most helpful way to participate in the program. But for those who are unable to attend we have also set up a Zoom facility so you can join in on-line.
At our meditation classes, we promote two awareness practices that develop concentration and clarity (the awareness of the breath) and the development of helpful emotions (the awareness of kindness). The public classes, and on-going support, are subject to a $10 charge for each class attended and are open to all. No interest in any form of Buddhism is required. There is no need to book to attend any of our classes and there are range of different sitting capabilities catered for at the centre with the provision of the appropriate equipment. It is suggested that you wear something loose and comfortable.
